Arts Festival Artist Information
2012 SMOKIN’ RED DIRT ARTS FESTIVAL
- You are invited to apply for the third annual Smokin’ Red Dirt Arts Festival hosted by Eagle Marketing and the Greater Enid Arts and Humanities Council.
- Original works of visual artists will be selected by a 6-person jury that will consider numerous aspects of the works submitted.
- The festival is held in downtown Enid, Oklahoma in conjunction with the 7th Annual Smokin’ Red Dirt BBQ Cookoff and MainStreet Enid JazzStroll.
- APPLICATION PROCESS AND FEES - Completed application form and all required materials must be received by March 23, 2012.
- Indoor booth fee is $50 and each exhibitor will be provided a 10’x10’ space, no exceptions.
- Outdoor booth fee is $25 and there are no limitations on space. Outside exhibitors are responsible for their own set-up and electricity. Security will be provided.
- Electricity is free of charge for indoor booth vendors and limited to a first come, first serve basis.
- Artists will be notified on or before April 4, 2012. Must include email address
- Digital images will be accepted or you may submit up to (4) 8×10 good quality images per medium and one of your booth. Clearly label the back of each print with your first initial, last name and number of image per media. Digital images should be named last name first initial. (example: smithj.painting and image number.jpg). Send images to eaglemkt@gmail.com
- Submissions will not be returned, but artists who are accepted will be able to pick up their prints at festival time.
- The Smokin’ Red Dirt Arts Festival, Eagle Marketing and Greater Enid Arts and Humanities Council reserve the right to use festival artists’ images for public relation purposes.
- The last day to withdraw without forfeiting the exhibition fee is Friday, April 9, 2012.
- WHAT QUALIFIES - Fine art in two-dimensional categories include painting, printmaking, photography, drawing and other. Three-dimensional categories include jewelry, fiber, glass, wood, metal, ceramics, and mixed media.
- Application submissions should be examples of recent work within the past two years. Work must be original, in the primary medium stated. Photographers must specify what process is being used, such as digital and/or film or other. Commercial methods of creation will not be accepted. Reproductions are allowed to the extent they are clearly marked as such and displayed only in a bin or portfolio and not on panels. Reproductions may not be more than 50% of the art for sale.
- ARTIST AGREEMENT - Participating artists are expected to represent their work personally and professionally in their booths during the festival. Artists agree that displayed work will be original, designed, executed and signed by the participating artist(s). If the art on display was misrepresented to the jury, the Smokin’ Red Dirt Arts Festival reserves the right to ask the artist to leave immediately and the booth fee will be forfeited.
- SALES - Artists retain all revenue from the sale of their work with no commission sales due to to the Smokin’ Red Dirt Arts Festival. Exhibitors are responsible for their own transactions, including sales tax, and will receive at check-in Oklahoma Sales Tax Remittance forms for reporting. If the artist does not have an Oklahoma Sales Tax number, the Smokin’ Red Dirt Arts Festival will submit the sales tax report and sales tax collected on their behalf and must remit both report and tax collected at the end of the festival to the event promoter.
- SECURITY - The Smokin’ Red Dirt Arts Festival will be held inside the Cherokee Strip Conference Center, 123 W. Maine, Enid. The building and all adjacent display rooms will be locked at the end of the day by facility personnel with on-site security patrolling the outside perimeter. The Smokin’ Red Dirt Arts Festival will not assume any liability for loss or damage to display or art for any reason.
- EXHIBITION SPACE - Each participating artist can choose from OUTDOOR or INDOOR space. The artist is responsible for display materials and any tent or canopy must fit within the designated area. Electricity is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis at no extra charge for those indoor booth vendors. A shared booth, up to two artists, is by special request only
- SELECTION PROCEDURE/ACCEPTANCE TO EXHIBIT -All artists submitting applications for the Smokin’ Red Dirt Arts Festival will be reviewed by a juried panel. Decisions of the committee are final. Artists who are selected to participate will be mailed the ARTIST AGREEMENT which will contain detailed information about the show, setup etc.
- APPLICATION must be returned postmarked by March 23, 2012. It is the responsibility of the applicant to advise Smokin’ Red Dirt Arts Festival of effective and current mailing address, phone numbers and email address. Notification of acceptance status will arrive by mail and/or email by April 4, 2012.
- Deadline for accepted artists to return signed exhibitor contract and their booth fee of $50 is April 9, 2012.
- Last day to withdraw without forfeiting exhibition fee is April 9, 2012.

- Judging will occur from images submitted with application. Awarded artists will be notified Saturday, April 21st before the end of the show. Checks will be received by mail.
